It’s finally here. Arlington’s bus rapid transit (BRT) pilot, funded by a grant from Boston’s Barr Foundation, officially launched on the morning of Oct. 9.
The pilot seeks to improve bus travel time, traffic flow along Massachusetts Avenue and the reliability of the 77 bus, which runs along the avenue along with the 79 and 305 buses. The pilot runs every weekday from 6-9 a.m. in the eastbound side of Massachusetts Avenue towards Cambridge.
“I think the first day went really well. It seems like what will take time is just drivers and bus drivers and even the bikers just getting used to the new pattern but overall it went as well as I thought it would,” said Jenny Raitt, director of Planning and Community Development. (Read more)
