For 8th year, Mass. named most energy-efficient state in the nation (Springfield Republican 10/4/2018)
BOSTON -- For the eighth year running, Massachusetts has been named the most energy-efficient state in the nation.
The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, which issues the annual scorecard, noted utility-led programs such as Mass Save, "stretch building codes" for cities and towns, incentives for combined heat and power, and standards for state buildings.
In a statement, Governor Charlie Baker said he is proud, and pledged to deliver more measures that will help residents and businesses save energy dollars.
Baker cited Massachusetts' procurement of offshore wind and Canadian hydropower, projects such as community solar, and "working with utilities to invest over $220 million in grid modernization technologies." (Read more)
